GAIA - part of the Triptych collection 2026

“The most effective alert to the threat of climate change is likely to come from the world of art rather than of science, because art has such an extraordinary way of cutting across human society.”

Thomas Lovejoy - conservation biologist (1941-2021) ‍ ‍

About me…

My passion for engineering has been at the centre of my career for over 30 years. I got such a kick out of creating safe and enjoyable places for people to inhabit. During my latter years, this developed into a significant focus on sustainable built environmental solutions. I am still heavily invested in pushing the sustainability agenda across the construction industry.

In 2025, I took a break from corporate life to pursue other passions: rediscovering a long held interest in abstract art. This started to grow in the COVID pandemic, during which I created abstract art pieces to support Lion aid charities in the protection of wild lions - for more information go to art4lions.com.

Moving forward, my latest collection merges my maturing unique artistic style with the urgent threat of climate change.

I am excited by this new chapter in my creative journey and I hope you will join me in enjoying my art, whilst also exploring the ‘loud’ and ‘quiet’ messages embedded within my art.

Together we can make a difference to our home planet.

Triptych collection

LAST ICE - 2026

Second part of the triptych collection.

This painting was created using media elements from my expansive book collection, along with around 10 layers of acrylic paint to communicate key facts and ‘tell the story.’

Displaying data and images in this painting which would otherwise be locked in a book, allows the viewer to interact with the information, hopefully on a daily basis.

Engineering taught me the benefits of osmosis. My art is seeking to use this science based concept to enable the viewer to naturally absorb the urgency of climate change impacts and ACT.

ONE HOME - 2026

Third part of the triptych collection.

This painting was created using media elements from my book collection, along with around 10 layers of acrylic paint to communicate key facts and ‘tell the story.’

Displaying data and images in this painting which would otherwise be locked in a book, allows the viewer to interact with the information, hopefully on a daily basis.

ONE HOME seeks to take the viewer on a journey. The depth of images and paint layers enables a new ‘journey’ every time you look at the painting. Standing back, you see the ‘loud conversations’, whereas getting up close allows you to see the ‘quiet messages’.

Engineering taught me the benefits of ‘system thinking’; a holistic problem-solving framework that focuses on understanding the interconnections, relationships, and behaviour of a system as a whole, rather than just its individual parts. The interlacing of engineering data, with the images of the natural world in this painting, is an attempt to display this principle.

An abstract collage of diverse signs, posters, and protests overlapping each other, with large colorful letters spelling 'CONSUME AND WASTE' and various protest signs and messages amid a crowd of people.

GAIA - 2026

First part of the triptych collection - and features on the home page.

This painting marked the first in my collection.

I can remember clearly the morning I started this work; I stood at my easel, a blank canvas before me and a building frustration in the current geopolitical instability of the world. Listening to a president say the words ‘Drill baby drill’ ! I found myself painting my emotions.

Coming soon - Water Lilies- climate art.
